Lisa Lofchie - Plays the “Blues”
Lisa got her start playing harp in Tucson, Arizona, played a little in South
Florida, but became truly inspired in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was here
in Raleigh that hearing her son play music, and being exposed to blues
ranging from Chicago to Piedmont styles, that she realized it was time to
relearn what she started in Tucson, Arizona and continue to explore the full
potential of this soulful instrument.
Her favorite harmonica player is George Higgs of Tarboro, North Carolina.
Through the Music Maker Relief Foundation, Lisa recently had the opportunity
to have a lesson with Mr. Higgs, which she considers a chance of a lifetime!
In addition to Blue Sky Jam, Lisa plays locally with guitarist and
songwriter Dennis Mikel in a duet called The Blues Plate Special. She also
plays regularly at senior care facilities accompanying guitarist Tim Rafferty.
Why did she take up harmonica you ask? Because the piano was too big to fit
in her back pocket!!
